It's quite different being here in Poland when you really think about it. Nearly everything and everyone you love is 4,500 miles away. Chances are good that the majority of people surrounding you don't have the same understanding of life as you, let alone speak the same language. Yet here we are immersing ourselves in the sights and sounds of a foreign land. We've dove into the deep in feet first how we come out the other side all depends on us. I'll be perfectly honest, up until this point I've been extremely homesick and have felt extremely isolated. How on earth can you not? It's been a rough adjustment as this is the first time that I have ever been this far away from home for this amount of time, but I'm making it. I've found myself doing quite a bit of art work and have been able to not only focus in on my own passion, but also pay attention to much of the art work that we've encountered on the trip. The artwork of the inmates at Auschwitz, the artwork of the street artists in Krakow, and I was even able to sit down with Taylorann and the son of the man who owns the hostel that we're currently staying in and share our artwork. A great deal of my own personal focus here will be on artwork and the history behind it. I think the one important thing that we all will take away from this trip is that we are all here for a different reason. I'm sure many of us came to Poland with preconceived notions as to what we were going to get out of this trip, and I'm sure a great many of us will leave with something completely different from what we expected. (Short post, but I detest blogging by nature, so this will have to do)
