Seeing that we'll all be in Poland within the next couple of days I thought leaving some thoughts here would be a good idea.
First is saying farewell to family members and friends. In my experience of traveling abroad, saying goodbye is never an easy thing. You find that the hugs are longer and your eyes barely stay dry when you or your close friend have that "...wait" moment realizing you won't see them for another month. Trust me the past two days I've experienced it head on. The one thing that helps me and whoever else get through that moment is reassuring that the trip will be over before they know it (hopefully not for us though). I also mention that there is WiFi (Polish pronunciation of course) everywhere in the cities and coffee shops and that contact will not be as limited as they originally perceived. I know this sounds cryptic like we're leaving for 5 years but it's probably going through everyone's minds...or maybe it's just me.
There are times when we'll experience culture shock but how exciting is that! We're headed across the globe to travel throughout Poland, which is something I have only ever dreamed about. This definitely won't be Christmas at my Grandma Pawlaczyk's! I am so excited to visit Soviet milk bars and eat authentic food, as well as drink espresso at all these coffee shops I'm hearing about. I cannot wait to become closer to everyone and grow together from this trip of a lifetime. And by far I am so excited to increase my bicep circumference from carrying this heavy bag that is definitely overpacked.
Until we meet in the lobby in Krakow at 6 pm, safe travels everyone!
